advent post #20

December 20, 2009

a while ago i was walking about with a friend, and we stumbled upon a giant ferris wheel… well, not so much stumbled as saw it in the distance and walked to it.

as it so happens it had just opened for the holidays… so we went.  much like the eye does for london, le grand roue has great views of paris.

it was first (or rather some sort of smaller version) built in 1900 for the world’s fair in paris, only to be taken down in 1937.  then in 2000, for the millenium celebration, it once again found a place in the jardin des tuileries and has been there off and on ever since.
