P1040394since 1932 poilâne bakery has been baking traditional french sourdough bread.  they were baked right downstairs in their original shop at 8 cherche midi in the st.germain des prés area of paris.  since then, the demand for their bread has grown so great, most of the baking has been moved off site, where the bread is still baked in wood fire ovens.

P1040386P1040380P1040387of course i had to go to the original shop, and of course i walked out with a large bag full of treats.  cookies, apple tarts, bread and confiture (jam) were among my riches.
