fête des tuileries

August 15, 2009

P1040362P1040346P1040351P1040356just outside of the louvre museum, in the jardin des tuileries, a giant carnival sets up shop two months out of the year, as it has for the past twenty years.

as it was a hot day, the water splashing up from the flume ride caught my attention and i found myself wandering over that way.

only then did i discover a carnival remeniscent to the ones that travel around county fairgrounds back home, providing children with loops and spins and plenty of tummy aches every couple of months… (there was even a churro stand!).

what really threw me for a loop though, was seeing the carnival with the louvre museum towering behind it.  it was such an odd juxtaposition of sights that i just stopped and stood and tried to figure it out as if someone was asking me a riddle.

anyways, the carnival is only here through august 26th, so make sure to take a turn on the ferris wheel before it leaves for its next destination…
