gin-fizz-1in 1888 a gentleman by the name of henry c. ramos invented a delicious cocktail known as the new orleans fizz.  since then the name has been changed to honor its inventor, and is now considered to be one of the best known fizzes in the fizz family.  each drink must be individually shaken, and the more it is shaken, the better.

the recipe

2 ounces gin
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
1 egg white
1 ounce heavy cream
2 teaspoons superfine sugar
1/2 teaspoon orange flower water
Cold club soda

Great variation of this drink! Gin Fizz is wonderful, thanks for posting.. it was a great read. My personal recipe of choice looks a little like this:

    2 PARTS Beefeater Gin

    1 PART Double cream

    1 Egg white

    1/2 PART Sugar syrup

    1/2 PART Lemon juice

    1/2 PART Lime juice

    3 DROPS Orange flower water

    (optional) 1 PART Soda water

METHOD Shake all ingredients, except for the soda. Strain into an ice filled highball, top with soda and garnish with a lemon wheel.
